Polygala arillata

 An indigenous shrub, small tree or sometimes a scandent climber in semi shade of montane forests above 1300 m elevations. Flowering all the year round. 

Polygala longifolia [Syn: Polygala leptalea]

Very rare or extinct native herb as per Flora of Ceylon, distributed (According to Thwaites) among long grass in dry low country around Nilgala in the northern part of the Uva province. However it occurs in eastern intermediate to dry zone areas and now considered as an Endangered plant (Red List 2012 & Vlas J&J, 2012). 

පලාල/පැලෑ/පෑල[Palala/Palae/Pala] (Xanthophyllum zeylanicum)

Common endemic tree of evergreen lowland wet zone forests up to about 600 m elevations. Flowering and fruiting from November to May.

Polygala chinensis

Common native prostrate herb occurs among grassy patches or sandy soil in the dry lowlands.
Flower size - 0.5 cm across

Polygala macrolophos

An endemic herb occurs in shrubby open spaces and along jungle paths of wet lowlands to montane forests. Flowering from December to March. 

තිලෝගුරු[Thiloguru] (Polygala javana)

Common native herb (Sometimes a shrub up to 1 m tall ) occurs in dry open areas and shrubby roadsides of the dry lowlands. Flowering throughout the year. 

Polygala paniculata

Native herb of tropical America. Introduced and naturalized in open slightly shaded places. Mainly in the hill country.
